Journey Mini Suitcase Album

Hello Bloggers and thanks for stopping by today!  This is a project whipped up for "bonus" daughter, Allison.  She is a world traveler through the Camp Adventure program at the University of Northern Iowa and spent last summer in Spain.
There is a little story behind this project.  It started out that the suitcase, full of printed florals, faux postage, tags and photo corners, was to be a gift for Allison to use in making her own scrapbooking project for the summer trip.  After getting it home (purchased at Tuesday Morning) and opening the package, it needed repair inside.  Instead of repairing the suit case, I decided it would make an adorable scrapbook.
Most of the paper used for this project was from an old Quick Quotes line called Sunny Side Up.  Add in some flowers, ribbon and bling from my stash and this is the result!
The "journey" die cut was done with Cricut.  All the pieces were inked with QQ chalk ink, Mocha Mama.
Ribbon and big brads for the suitcase handle
Buttons, brads and bling adorning the front cover
Rub-ons for part of the title and bling inside the button

Cover of the suitcase mini and close-up below. The inside cover is clear so that a photo may go inside.

Square and rectangular scallop punches were used to cut quotes from the papers.

The inside pages are pockets with tri-fold mats on one side and a single mat on the other.

The accordian-folded spine holds all the pages securely and leaves plenty of room for photos.

We visited Allison and fiance, Chris recently and the album was nearly full of her trip photos!  And she journaled, too!  It did my heart good to see one of my hand-made gifts put to such great use!  Thanks for stopping by today!   Jules

Valentine Cards - Basic Grey

Hello Blog Friends!  The second Valentine project for today.  These cards are a Basic Grey cardmaking kit from my LSS which makes 12 cards.  They are not layered enough for my liking, but still turned out okay with a little extra embellishing from my stash!  Items added were the red dotted sheer ribbons on the XOXO card and lace on the tag front card, kraft paper for the card insides and penwork on some of the edges.

The words seen on the card fronts are rub-ons included in the kit.  The card with the I Love You tag, below, had a change of orientation from side-fold to top fold.  The Amour card has a strip of pleated paper in the center of the panel, red with white doily lace print.  The pleated strip was a monster, as I, Miss Perfect, HAD to have it pleated perfectly and centered on the card!

Would I do this again?  Probably not, but I did have a fun time making these during a visit/craft session in January with my beautiful daughter!  Again, thanks for checking in today and Happy Valentine's Day!
